Jannik Sinner, regarded as a leading contender, faced an unexpected defeat in the second round of the French Open. His 30-match unbeaten streak was brought to a halt by Juan Manuel Cerundolo, ranked 56th, as Sinner struggled to cope with rising temperatures during the match.

Initially in control, Sinner led 3-6, 2-6, and had the opportunity to close the match at 5-4 in the third set. However, the intense heat took a toll, and he started succumbing to exhaustion. Despite trying to cool himself with fans and ice, Sinner could not maintain his form.

With temperatures reaching up to 32 degrees Celsius, Sinner's attempts to shorten points by deploying drop shots and serve-and-volley strategies were not enough. Cerundolo advanced after Sinner, visibly exhausted, sought medical assistance.

After the third set slipped away and needing medical attention, Sinner was unable to rally back. This defeat mirrored past struggles he experienced under extreme conditions, similar to the Australian Open earlier this year.
