Ivory Coast has made a last-minute adjustment to its World Cup squad due to an injury setback for defender Clement Akpa. The Ivorian football federation announced the change on Saturday, confirming Akpa's replacement as left-back Christopher Operi.
Akpa, capped five times, suffered an adductor injury during training with his club, AJ Auxerre, and was sidelined for recent Ligue 1 matches. Meanwhile, Christopher Operi, who plays for Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey, has been called up to join the training camp in Paris.
The team, now bolstered by Operi, is set to face France in a friendly match on June 4 in Nantes as they gear up for their World Cup campaign, where they will compete against Ecuador, Germany, and Curaçao in Group E.
