The Gujarat Titans conceded they underestimated the necessary score required on the Narendra Modi Stadium pitch during their loss to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 final. Vikram Solanki, the team's director of cricket, acknowledged the misjudgment that left them at a disadvantage.
Opting for 155 for eight, the Titans fell 25 runs shy of a competitive target. RCB managed to chase down the total in 18 overs, securing their consecutive title. Solanki remarked that the desired score should have been near the 180 mark, which would have posed a tougher challenge for their opponents.
While Solanki expressed pride in the team's overall campaign, he recognized RCB's superior performance. Despite the loss, he commended Virat Kohli's decisive innings of 75 not out, which was pivotal in RCB's victory. The Titans had faced scheduling challenges, having played a match in Dharamsala shortly before their final, yet remained resolute in addressing their shortcomings.
