Revolutionizing Connectivity: BharatNet's Rural Broadband Expansion
BharatNet Phase 3 will provide subsidized broadband to 1.5 crore rural households in India, enhancing digital access with a USD 18 billion investment. The initiative reflects India's telecom advancements and aims to support economic growth and technological development with affordable data and broad connectivity.

The Indian government is set to dramatically expand internet access in rural areas through BharatNet Phase 3. Under this phase, 1.5 crore households will receive subsidized broadband as part of a USD 18 billion investment, according to Telecom Minister Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani.
BharatNet stands as the globe's largest rural internet initiative, already bringing high-speed optical fiber connections to over 2.18 lakh gram panchayats. This effort aims to add another 40,000 gram panchayats, maintaining the existing network while extending connectivity benefits.
The development reflects India's shift from a digital divide to digital dominance. The country has offered some of the world's lowest data prices, facilitating widespread access. India excels as a global leader in 5G deployment and seeks to spearhead 6G development, encapsulating its telecom ambitions.
