AI Revolution: Jobs Shift Seismic in Manufacturing, Retail, and Education
A report by Servicenow reveals that over 1.8 crore jobs across manufacturing, retail, and education sectors will be impacted by agentic AI technologies by 2030. High-automation roles are being redefined, while roles such as implementation consultants are partnering with AI. India has an opportunity to lead globally in AI talent development.

A recent report highlights a significant shift in the job landscape across manufacturing, retail, and education sectors as agentic artificial intelligence takes hold. Over 1.8 crore positions are expected to be affected by new-age technologies by 2030.
According to the study by Servicenow, the manufacturing sector will see the greatest impact, with 80 lakh positions affected, followed closely by retail with 76 lakh positions. The education sector will also feel the pressure with 25 lakh jobs under threat within five years.
Sumeet Mathur, managing director at Servicenow India, emphasizes that AI will not only reshape the workforce by creating over 30 lakh new technology jobs but will also redefine upwards of 1.35 crore roles. Despite concerns over AI's influence on jobs, this presents an opportunity for India to lead globally by fostering AI-ready talent.
