India stands on the brink of a cybersecurity breakthrough, with the potential to redefine the next generation of global security firms, says Prayank Swaroop, Partner at Accel.

In an interview at Accel's Cybersecurity Summit in Bengaluru, Swaroop urged Indian entrepreneurs to take action, stating that with over 1,400 cybersecurity startups, only 235 have secured funding, and a mere six have gone public. The market represents a USD 377 billion opportunity over the coming three years, presenting Indian founders a significant chance to build impactful companies.

Accel's early investment in now-industry giant CrowdStrike showcases their commitment to future leaders in cybersecurity. Swaroop notes the sector's growth is driven by AI advancements, disrupting traditional security approaches and opening new opportunities like deepfake detection and GenAI copilots for SOC teams. With India's growing role in the cybersecurity realm, Swaroop stresses that the moment is ripe for India to lead.
