Bengaluru air taxi startup Sarla Aviation has appointed former civil aviation secretary Rajiv Bansal as its Advisor. Bansal, a veteran with over three decades in the field, will guide the company on regulatory advisory and strategy, focusing on certification as they plan to launch electric flying taxis by 2028.
Bansal, who retired in August 2023, brings vast experience, having led Air India as Chairman and Managing Director. His insights will prove crucial as Sarla Aviation scales its operations, engaging with airports and city governments, and navigating complex pathways toward commercial deployment.
Adrian Schmidt, Co-Founder and CEO of Sarla Aviation, lauds Bansal's leadership at the Civil Aviation Ministry, marking it as instrumental for maturing processes and shaping certification strategy as they aim to build India's first privately held full-stack aviation OEM. The company, founded in October 2023, continues to innovate with its prototype eVTOL, Shunya, boasting the highest payload in the market.
