Microsoft Inc announced the shutdown of 340 websites linked to the Nigerian-based phishing service Raccoon0365, a significant cybercrime operation compromising thousands of Microsoft user credentials.
Operating through a Telegram channel with 850 subscribers, Raccoon0365 facilitated impersonation of brands to execute phishing schemes, netting $100,000 in cryptocurrency since its inception in July 2024.
Collaborating with Cloudflare and U.S. authorities, Microsoft targeted the network's backend infrastructure to disrupt its operations, emphasizing the urgency to counteract these widespread and accessible cyber threats.
