Jamaican Sprint Team Breaks World Record at World Athletics Relays
Jamaica's mixed 4x100 meters relay team made history by becoming the first to complete the race in under 40 seconds at the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana. The team, comprising Ackeem Blake, Tina Clayton, Kadrian Goldson, and Tia Clayton, set a new world record of 39.99 seconds.
Jamaica stormed into the record books at the World Athletics Relays, setting an unprecedented mark in the mixed 4x100 meters relay, finishing in 39.99 seconds. This was the first time a quartet cracked the 40-second barrier in this event.
The landmark achievement unfolded in Gaborone, Botswana, where the event was hosted in Africa for the first time. Their dazzling performance came just moments after Canada had set a fresh record of 40.07 seconds in the previous heat.
Adopting the event's new man-woman-man-woman format, Ackeem Blake commenced Jamaica's race, passing the baton to Tina Clayton. Kadrian Goldson executed the third leg, setting up Tia Clayton for a remarkable anchor that propelled the team to victory.
