Maharashtra's Information Technology Minister, Ashish Shelar, has taken a significant step towards integrating artificial intelligence within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's tendering system to ensure transparency and curb human intervention.
The move is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accountability of project executions in Mumbai. Supported by Maharashtra's newly approved Artificial Intelligence Policy, this initiative was discussed in a meeting with senior officials, including BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide.
The use of AI is not limited to tenders. BMC is also employing AI-enabled systems to improve day-to-day service delivery, such as registering citizen complaints via chatbots, moving to paperless administration, and organizing hackathons to involve youth in urban governance.
