Maharashtra's Semiconductor Ambitions: Shaping the Future of Innovation

At a recent event marking the golden jubilee of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences, President Dr. Dinesh Amalnerkar stressed the urgent need for Maharashtra to bolster its semiconductor research and manufacturing capabilities to compete with other states.

Dr. Amalnerkar pointed out the challenges Maharashtra faces in closing the gap in semiconductor research despite its strong scientific and industrial base. He called for concerted efforts by research institutions and the government to rival Gujarat and Telangana, which have become attractive destinations for semiconductor investments.

Highlighting India's focus on semiconductor sovereignty, Amalnerkar urged Maharashtra to innovate beyond traditional practices. Industrialist Arun Firodia, the event's chief guest, also shed light on AI's potential in urban management to tackle issues like traffic congestion. The event included book releases and special compositions by academy fellows.
