The 'Goa Shackathon' will be held at the popular Baga beach in North Goa on May 21 and 22, bringing together startups, innovators, creators, designers, students and remote professionals for a beachside ''workation'' experience.
For the two-day event, which is the first of its kind in the state that has been organised by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C), over 300 participants have been shortlisted from a pool of more than 700 registrations, a senior official said.
The participants will converge for a unique beachside hackathon that blends innovation, collaboration and a workation experience. The event aims to combine innovation, networking and collaboration in a non-conventional setting, he said.
The initiative seeks to reimagine the hackathon format by converting Goa's beach shacks into collaborative workspaces, allowing participants to ideate and engage while experiencing the state's work-life culture, he said.
State IT and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Wednesday said the response to the event has been encouraging, reflecting growing interest among professionals and creators in Goa as a destination for innovation and new ways of working.
The first day of the event, themed ''Hustle and High Tides'', will feature discussions on artificial intelligence, robotics, startups and communication, with participation from industry experts and speakers, he said.
The minister said that the second day theme ''Creators and Coastlines'', will focus on creators, designers and media professionals, with sessions on creativity, artificial intelligence (AI) in design and communication, along with networking activities.
Khaunte said the participants from sectors, such as TourismTech, TravelTech, AI, healthcare, DeepTech, EdTech and DroneTech are expected to take part in the event.
