A helicopter tragedy struck Uttarkashi district on Thursday when a private helicopter heading to the Gangotri shrine crashed, leaving five individuals dead and two others injured, according to local officials.

The helicopter, operated by AeroTrans Services Private Limited, carried seven people, including its pilot. It went down on the Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway at approximately 8:45 am, plunging into a 200-250 meter deep gorge.

The Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, expressed deep sorrow over this tragic incident and has instructed the administration to provide all necessary assistance to the injured, while ensuring a thorough investigation is conducted to ascertain the cause of the accident.
