Srilankan Airlines has announced a suspension of its flights to Lahore amidst escalating military tensions in the Kashmir region. While the airline has halted these flights temporarily, it has confirmed that its services to Karachi will proceed as scheduled, as stated by airline officials on Thursday.
This development comes after a late-night announcement by the Pakistani government, which involved the closure of its airspace for commercial flights at Lahore and Islamabad airports. However, according to a statement from the Pakistan Airports Authority, the Karachi airport has been allowed to stay operational.
The airspace closure follows India's military operations, named Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine locations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Punjab province. This retaliatory strike was in response to a terror attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in multiple casualties.
