Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport will launch a new flight route to Abu Dhabi starting June 2025, as announced by the Chief Minister's Office on Thursday. This is part of the Building Management of Aviation Assets and Network (B-MAAN) scheme.

The service, operated by Indigo Airlines, aims to increase Odisha's global connectivity and will run every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The initiative aligns with the government's New Destination Policy, designed to boost tourism, trade, and other global prospects for the region.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted the importance of this aviation expansion in his 2025-26 budget speech, which includes provisions for a greenfield airport at Paradip and financial aid to support operational costs for new routes.
