Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has reached a groundbreaking milestone, becoming the first-ever renewable energy Independent Power Producer (IPP) to achieve water positivity across its entire 14 GW operational portfolio. This accomplishment comes a full year ahead of its anticipated FY26 target, establishing AGEL as a leader in sustainable energy.
Certified water positive by global assurance firm Intertek, AGEL's achievement follows rigorous audits and assessments of its water accounting data across 103 operational and 85 water conservation sites. Notably, AGEL is the only Indian renewable company of its size to secure such a certification, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.
In regions where water scarcity is prevalent, like Khavda, Gujarat, and the Thar desert, AGEL's water positivity initiatives symbolize innovation and hope. Their water conservation efforts equate to approximately 467 Olympic swimming pools, benefiting over 1,23,000 individuals in water-deprived communities. This is achieved through technologies like robotic cleaning of solar modules, which save about 546 million liters of water annually.
