A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district resulted in the deaths of four police officers and an undertrial prisoner when their van collided with a stationary truck on a highway early Thursday.
The police team from Firozabad was transporting the undertrial to Bulandshahr when the vehicle crashed near Chikawati village under the Lodha police station jurisdiction, stated Circle Officer Sanjiv Tomar. The impact was fatal for four occupants, while one police officer died during medical treatment.
Authorities have identified the deceased as sub-inspector Ram Shivjiwan, constable Balbir Singh, head constable Raghuwir, driver Chandrapal, and undertrial Gulshan. An injured constable, Sherpal Singh, is currently receiving medical care. Preliminary findings indicate low visibility could be a factor, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
