Passengers utilizing Mumbai International Airport will face higher fees from May 16, as the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has sanctioned a revision of the user development fee. This marks a notable change in the cost structure for both domestic and international travelers.
The new tariff order for the period of FY 2024-2029 stipulates that domestic passengers will incur a fee of Rs 175 per trip, while international business travelers will pay Rs 695. This move aims to align with the 'User Pays' principle, enhancing passenger amenities and sustaining growth in the aviation sector.
Despite an increase in passenger charges, AERA ensures that airline operations remain cost-effective through reduced landing and parking fees. The tariff adjustment also supports infrastructure advancements, such as the proposed redevelopment of Terminal T1, fostering long-term expansion and efficiency at the airport.
