A BrahMos missile manufacturing unit constructed with an investment of Rs 300 crore is poised for inauguration in Lucknow. Scheduled for May 11, the facility was developed under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor in just 3.5 years, according to an official statement.
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions along the Line of Control between India and Pakistan, marked by significant exchanges of heavy artillery fire. Several militant camps in Pakistan have reportedly been destroyed, underscoring the strategic timing of the plant's unveiling.
Shrihari Pratap Shahi, Additional CEO of UPEIDA, highlighted the state's contribution of 80 hectares of land for the project at no cost. The factory aims to employ around 500 engineers and technicians, with thousands of additional indirect job opportunities, marking a significant boost to local employment and defense capabilities.
