Zee Entertainment Enterprise Ltd on Thursday reported a significant increase in its consolidated net profit, reaching Rs 188.4 crore for the January-March quarter. This surge was attributed to effective cost management, despite challenges in the advertising sector.
Compared to a net profit of Rs 13.4 crore during the same period last year, the company's total income rose by 1.6% to Rs 2,220.3 crore. The growth was largely driven by subscription revenues and other sales and services, even as advertising income fell by 4.2% to Rs 837.5 crore.
Remarkably, ZEEL's subscription revenue increased by 3.9% to Rs 986.5 crore, influenced by both linear subscriptions and the digital platform ZEE5. Unsurprisingly, 'other sales & service' revenue saw a threefold increase, owing to a higher number of movie releases and syndication deals.
