Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, Mizoram's lone representative in the Lok Sabha, has urged central authorities to fast-track highway projects in the state, citing impending monsoon challenges. According to an official statement released Thursday, the MP specifically asked for swift action from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
During his meeting with Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta in New Delhi, Vanlalhmangaiha stressed the critical need for the NH-6/306 stretch between Vairengte and Sairang to be improved expeditiously. This highway serves as a crucial link, connecting Mizoram's capital, Aizawl, with Assam's Silchar town.
The MP also highlighted the importance of converting more highway stretches into concrete (rigid) pavements to withstand the state's heavy rainfall. In response, Minister Tamta assured Vanlalhmangaiha of all possible support to expedite the necessary improvements.
