In a significant milestone for renewable energy collaboration, the Adani Group and Bhutan's Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) have agreed to jointly develop 5,000 MW of hydropower projects. The deal was solidified with a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.
The MoU was signed by DGPC's Managing Director Dasho Chhewang Rinzin and Adani Green Hydro Ltd's Chief Operating Officer Naresh Telgu. Attendees at the signing included Bhutan's Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay and Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Lyonpo Gem Tshering, underscoring the high-level support for this bilateral endeavor.
This collaboration not only aims to scale up Bhutan's hydropower capacity but also emphasizes integration with India's power markets, further strengthening Bhutan's role in regional energy trade. Backed by the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of India, this initiative is a stride towards a more sustainable and integrated energy future in the region.
