The Kolkata Metro Railway is set to enhance the service frequency on its Purple Line, stretching between Joka and Majerhat stations, from May 13. This development was confirmed by an official on Friday, marking a significant increase in accessibility for daily commuters.
The increased frequency will involve operating 62 services, split evenly between up and down lines, at a 24-minute interval. This expansion is a notable improvement from the current 40 services offered daily from Monday to Friday.
Moreover, the operational hours along this corridor will extend from 7:57 a.m. to 8:17 p.m., replacing the previous schedule of 8:27 a.m. to 3:43 p.m. As with existing practice, the services will remain suspended on weekends.
