On Tuesday, Google revealed that applications are now open for its 'Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First India 2025' initiative. This program seeks to bolster the rapidly expanding AI ecosystem in India by supporting startups in the Seed to Series A phases, particularly those focused on Agentic and Multimodal AI. Interested startups have until June 30 to apply.
The tech giant stated, "As part of our ongoing efforts to enrich this dynamic ecosystem and align with the broader objectives of the IndiaAI Mission, supported by MeitY Startup Hub, we are thrilled to invite applications for the AI First initiative in India." India's technology industry is swiftly growing, spurred by skilled professionals and a thriving economy. With AI adoption on a rapid rise, the government has prioritized it, notably through the IndiaAI Mission.
Projections suggest that the Generative AI market in India will surpass USD 17 billion by 2030. AI is also anticipated to be a crucial component in realizing the nation's USD 1 trillion digital economy target by 2028. Through this accelerator, Google promises top-notch mentorship from Google sectors like DeepMind, Cloud, Android, Play, and Ads. Startups will also receive tailored, one-on-one guidance from designated startup success managers.
Participants will benefit from free Cloud TPUs, Cloud credits (for those eligible), and advanced AI tools and models courtesy of Google. Crucial support in adopting and managing sophisticated AI models such as Gemini, Gemma, Imagen, and Veo will also be provided. Last year, Google's accelerator showed remarkable success, with participating startups collectively raising over USD 61 million and gaining access to new market opportunities through Google Cloud Marketplace.
The prior edition of the 'AI First India' program led to substantial outcomes for participating startups, including over USD 61 million in funding and enhanced market reach via the Google Cloud Marketplace.
