An electric midi bus operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) found itself ensnared in a pit this Monday morning. The incident unfolded near a Metro construction site at Girgaon in Mumbai, officials disclosed.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded as all passengers were evacuated safely. The rear of the vehicle sank into the pit, which resulted from partial road collapse near Dr Babasaheb Jaykar Marg at the Thakurdwar Metro Line 3 site. Construction work remains ongoing in the area.
Local residents suggested the pit, nearly five-foot deep, appeared due to ongoing Metro construction work. Both BEST and the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) have initiated enquiries to explore concern over infrastructure stability.
