In the aftermath of the devastating Air India crash in Ahmedabad, which resulted in the tragic loss of 270 lives, efforts to identify the victims are underway. So far, DNA tests have successfully identified 87 individuals, with 47 bodies already returned to their grieving families.
Among the deceased was former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was confirmed identified through DNA matching and will be handed over to his family. The crash occurred on June 12, involving a London-bound Air India flight AI-171, which tragically crashed soon after taking off from Ahmedabad.
The incident not only claimed the lives of 241 passengers and crew members but also led to 29 fatalities on the ground, including five medical students. Efforts continue to identify the remaining victims transferred to the hospital for examination, with families anxiously awaited the return of their loved ones.
