Walmart, the US-based retail behemoth, has announced its goal to integrate an additional 100,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) into its supplier development program, Walmart Vriddhi, over the next three years. The company's collaboration with Ideas to Impact Foundation (i2i) aims to expand MSMEs' reach within national and international markets.
As part of its strategy, Walmart is striving to enhance its sourcing operations from India, setting a target of $10 billion in exports by 2027. The retailer plans to leverage its partnership with i2i alongside Flipkart's robust e-commerce potential to amplify market access for these businesses.
Since launching in 2019, Walmart Vriddhi has empowered over 70,000 MSMEs by providing digital commerce access, mentorship, and strategic partnerships. Inspired by its success, Walmart has rolled out similar initiatives in Mexico and the US, extending mentorship and growth tools to small business participants.
