A Coast Guard helicopter on a routine coastal patrol made an emergency landing at a college ground in Kerala on Thursday due to rough weather, according to a Defence release.

The Chetak helicopter faced turbulent weather conditions while returning from its patrol mission, prompting a safety-first decision by the crew to land on the football field of St Gregorios Dental College in Chelad, near Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district.

Once the adverse weather cleared, the helicopter resumed its journey and returned safely to the Coast Guard Air Enclave in Nedumbassery, confirmed the release.
