The death toll from the June 9 suburban train accident near Mumbra station in Thane district has climbed to five. This follows the passing of a commuter who was receiving treatment at a private hospital, officials reported Thursday.

Anil More, aged 51, was confirmed dead by Thane tehsildar Umesh Patil after battling for life in the hospital. His death marks the latest tragedy in the incident that has gripped the region.

Meanwhile, another injured passenger, 40-year-old Shiva Gavli, remains on ventilator support. The accident, which occurred between Diva and Mumbra stations during the morning rush, initially claimed four lives and injured nine others.
