A tragic accident on National Highway-2 in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district claimed the lives of five people Thursday, as a car collided with a truck. Police reported the vehicle was traveling towards Kanpur from Prayagraj when it struck a divider, veering into the path of an oncoming truck.
Three of the car's occupants died instantly, and two others, including a woman, succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at a local hospital. Identified victims include Aditya Kumar, 35, and Raj Bahadur, 55, with efforts ongoing to ascertain the identities of the remaining victims.
Authorities have seized the truck and are pursuing the driver who fled the scene. Legal proceedings are in progress, with notifications sent to the victims' families for identification purposes.
