India's coffee exports have embarked on a strong trajectory, recording over 25% growth in the initial phase of the 2025-26 fiscal year. This impressive start comes on the heels of a successful 2024-25, where exports surged by 40.20%, reaching USD 1803 million from USD 1286 million in the prior fiscal year, according to the Coffee Board of India's latest data.

The report further underscores India's burgeoning coffee sector, which not only ranks as the world's seventh-largest producer, contributing 3.5% to global output but also holds the position of the fifth-largest exporter, responsible for 5% of worldwide coffee shipments. In its quest to promote Indian coffee varieties globally, the Coffee Board engages in buyer-seller meet-ups, extensive promotional activities abroad for 13 regional and 3 speciality coffees, and secures Geographical Indication tags for select products. Digital campaigns highlight the distinct features of India's shade-grown, hand-picked, and sun-dried coffees.

On the domestic front, efforts to boost pure coffee consumption involve partnerships with e-commerce platforms like ONDC, Amazon, and Flipkart. The establishment of the Atal Incubation Centre - Central Coffee Research Institute - Centre for Entrepreneurship Development in Bengaluru is a further testament to this commitment, having supported 63 startups and trained over 3,000 individuals. The Indian coffee sector's emphasis on sustainable practices, remarkable export performance, and strategic promotional efforts pave the way for continued growth and recognition on the global stage.
