The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is rolling out Kashmiri vegetarian cuisine for passengers on the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train starting in mid-July. This move is part of a broader initiative to offer local culinary experiences to train travelers.
Anand Kumar Jha, Additional General Manager of IRCTC, stated that the menu includes popular items like ambal kaddu and paneer chaman, chosen after consultations with top local eateries. These dishes aim to give passengers a taste of authentic regional flavors during their journey.
Passengers unwilling to try local cuisine will have alternatives like upma, poha, and vegetarian cutlets. The initiative follows similar efforts to introduce regional dishes on various premier trains, enhancing the travel experience on the Indian Railways network.
