Shera Energy Limited has taken a significant step in its international expansion strategy with the acquisition of a copper cathode manufacturing plant in Zambia. This strategic purchase underscores Shera's long-term vision of securing reliable raw material sourcing and expanding its global presence.
Situated in Zambia's Copperbelt region, a key area for copper mining near the Democratic Republic of Congo, the acquired plant will produce 99.99% pure copper cathodes using locally sourced copper oxide ores. This move is expected to drastically reduce procurement costs and enhance operational efficiency. Initially, the plant will have a production capacity of 1,200 metric tonnes annually for FY 2025-26, with plans to increase output to 5,000 metric tonnes in subsequent years.
Naseem Shaikh, the Chairman and Managing Director of Shera Energy Limited, highlights the acquisition as a pivotal milestone in the company's international journey. It solidifies Shera's supply chain resilience, aiming for cost-effective and sustainable operations while providing long-term access to essential raw materials, thus promising consistent higher margins. As Shera explores further investments in its Zambian subsidiary, this development aligns with its goal to secure global market growth and sustainability.
