India is on course to become a USD 5 trillion economy by 2027, according to Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, despite prevailing global economic challenges. This projection is backed by what Goyal calls 'transformational' government reforms under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

Speaking virtually at a session hosted by the Merchants' Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Goyal highlighted India's resilience amidst economic volatility, citing the country's robust foreign exchange reserves and recent trade agreements with countries like the UK and Australia as markers of progress.

Goyal also pointed to India's readiness to lead in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing. He urged businesses to embrace innovation, expand their operations, and leverage global opportunities, describing India's growth as an inclusive journey driven by collective national efforts.
