The Odisha government has finalized plans to establish its first Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Bhubaneswar, significantly advancing the state's aviation infrastructure. The initiative promises enhanced economic opportunities and connectivity, according to an official announcement.
The state's commerce and transport department is spearheading a new destination policy designed to promote air connectivity through structured incentives, route support, and airline facilitation. This policy has already increased Odisha's domestic and international aviation presence, unveiling 13 new flight services that facilitate trade, tourism, and integration.
Internationally, Bhubaneswar now boasts direct flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, boosting global ties and market accessibility. Domestically, new routes enhance connections to key destinations and industrial zones. Moreover, the Puri airport project's Interactive Colour Coded Zoning Map (CCZM) introduces a digital tool for safe and sustainable aviation planning, promising a resilient ecosystem.
