In a significant operation, Ahmedabad police detained 39 individuals, including 26 women, for allegedly consuming alcohol during a birthday celebration at a private resort, violating the Gujarat Prohibition Act, an official revealed on Monday.

The raid took place at a resort located on the Sanand-Bavla road late Sunday night, where one of the accused had invited guests and arranged alcoholic beverages for the celebration.

During the operation, police recovered five sealed bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), eight half-empty bottles, 20 empty bottles, and seven hookahs. After serving notices and conducting medical tests, the women were released, while the men were taken to the station and bailed in the morning.
