Goa's Aviation Horizon: Revival Plans for Gatwick-Goa Air India Flight

Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, addressing the state's legislative assembly, committed to engaging with the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to reinstate the Air India flight between London's Gatwick Airport and Goa's Manohar International Airport. This vital link was discontinued following a disturbing aviation accident in Ahmedabad on June 12.

The subject arose when BJP MLA Michael Lobo underscored the flight's importance for Goans, urging Sawant to lobby Air India for its restoration. Lobo expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of increased international routes despite the commissioning of the new airport at Mopa.

Sawant countered concerns, emphasizing that both Goa's airports, Dabolim and the newly operational Manohar International Airport, have seen a significant surge in flights. The latter has brought crucial revenue, cementing its role in enhancing the region's connectivity.
