In a significant expansion move, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) and Ambuja Neotia Group have announced the development of 15 new hotels across eastern and northeastern India, with an estimated investment of Rs 2,000 crore. This strategic partnership aims to enhance the region's luxury travel sector.

The ambitious project will see the development of both greenfield and brownfield properties, along with conversion projects, spread across West Bengal, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh. Notable inclusions feature Taj resorts in Sunderban, Darjeeling, and Shimla, alongside other branded accommodations.

Under a capital-light arrangement, IHCL's capacity is set to increase from 28 to 43 hotels, adding over 1,000 rooms. This expansion is aligned with India's efforts to unlock the tourism potential of its eastern and northeastern areas, according to IHCL's Managing Director, Puneet Chhatwal.
