The Mizoram government has given the green light to four companies aiming to establish ginger processing units in the state, according to an official announcement on Monday.

The empowered committee on investment, headed by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, has approved the proposals of Sjar Consulting Private Limited (Uttar Pradesh), Opickpure Organic Pvt. Ltd (Himachal Pradesh), AV Biotech (Rajasthan), and local entity 'Lushai Organic' for these ventures. This follows the state's recent declaration of ginger as its flagship crop.

Sjar Consulting plans a Rs 38 crore investment to employ over 200 people, while Opickpure is set to invest Rs 2.5 crore with around 50 jobs. AV Biotech proposes Rs 13.95 crore for employment of about 100 people. Lushai Organic aims for a Rs 1 crore investment to generate 20 jobs. An investment committee will finalize formalities quickly, preparing a draft MoU and overseeing essential resources.
