Airline Assault Incident Sparks Major Legal and Security Concerns

A senior army officer is under investigation for allegedly assaulting four SpiceJet employees at Srinagar International Airport after a dispute over excess baggage charges. The incident resulted in a serious spinal injury for one employee and was captured on security cameras at the site.

The officer, identified as Lt Colonel R K Singh, is reportedly posted at the Army's High Altitude Warfare School and was set to board a SpiceJet flight to Delhi when the altercation occurred. Responding to the violent episode, SpiceJet has initiated the process to place the officer on the no-fly list, adhering to civil aviation regulations.

Army officials have acknowledged the incident, emphasizing their commitment to discipline and civility pending the outcome of the investigation. Meanwhile, the airline has submitted CCTV footage to the police and appealed to the civil aviation ministry for urgent action against the disruptive passenger.
