The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has officially authorized the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to issue certificates of origin via an online platform, as announced Wednesday. This strategic move enables exporters from Jammu and Kashmir to secure this essential document locally.
Effective January 1, 2025, the DGFT will phase out manual processing nationwide, mandating the exclusive use of digital platforms. KCCI President Javid Ahmad Tenga hailed this initiative as a ''landmark achievement'' for the regional business community.
This advancement reduces the need for physical submissions, aiding various sectors like handicrafts and agriculture in J&K, and marking a significant shift towards technological integration in trade documentation, according to KCCI statements.
