On Thursday, air traffic controllers lost contact with an An-24 passenger plane carrying around 50 individuals in Russia's far east, prompting a search operation. The aircraft, operated by Siberia-based Angara airline, disappeared from radar as it neared Tynda in the Amur region, close to the Chinese border.
According to regional governor Vasily Orlov, preliminary data indicates that 43 passengers, including five children and six crew members, were aboard the flight. Orlov announced on Telegram that all necessary resources have been deployed for the search operation.
The local emergencies ministry reports a slightly lower number of occupants, estimating around 40 people present on the aircraft at the time of its disappearance.
