British air traffic control faced significant disruptions, leading to nearly two dozen flight cancellations at major UK airports. The setback came after National Air Traffic Services (NATS) experienced technical difficulties, temporarily impacting its operations.
As of Wednesday evening, 122 flights were canceled, affecting routes at airports such as Gatwick and Edinburgh. Despite the NATS' claim of restored capacity, further cancellations persisted on Thursday, highlighting underlying issues.
Transport minister Heidi Alexander emphasized efforts to prevent reoccurrence and clear delays. Meanwhile, criticism continues, with Ryanair's COO urging NATS' chief executive to resign due to recurring system failures.
