Efforts to remove encroachments at Park Circus Railway Station in Kolkata face significant challenges, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. In a detailed written reply to the Rajya Sabha, he stated that successful eviction drives have been hindered by a lack of support from the state government.
The station's encumbrance issues include blockages by hawkers, affecting passenger accessibility. Despite these problems, Indian Railways continues to take necessary actions, deploying the Railway Protection Force and utilizing technology such as CCTV systems to ensure passenger security.
Focusing on cleanliness, the Railways has initiated measures like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and improved waste management systems to maintain hygienic conditions. The 'Pay & Use' scheme also aids in toilet maintenance, further enhancing station standards.
