In a fiery announcement, Karnataka BJP President and MLA BY Vijayendra declared that the Bharatiya Janata Party would stage a significant protest at the Gandhi statue near Vidhana Soudha on August 5. This demonstration comes as a direct response to Rahul Gandhi's contentious remarks about alleged electoral fraud, which Vijayendra denounced as insulting to the country's voters and the Constitution.
Addressing journalists at the BJP State Headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, Vijayendra revealed that BJP leaders plan to meet the Governor following the protest to submit a formal memorandum. He accused Gandhi of preparing political theatrics in Bengaluru on the same date. The protest is expected to feature participation from an array of BJP members, including MPs, MLAs, and former legislators, aimed at unveiling the Congress Party's misleading narratives to the public.
Vijayendra further alleged that ahead of Gandhi's visit, the state government had suspiciously demolished structures at Freedom Park. He called on Gandhi and the Chief Minister to apologize to Karnataka's people. Accusing Congress of concocting a misleading national narrative, Vijayendra lambasted Rahul Gandhi as a misguided leader, devoid of direction, who was stirring confusion about the Election Commission.
Intensifying his criticism, Vijayendra challenged Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar to present their purported '100 percent proof' of fraud to higher courts. Suspecting deliberate misinformation, he claimed these leaders were undermining the democratic system.
Vijayendra suggested that Gandhi, in denial of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, reflected his personal setbacks onto electoral institutions. He labeled Gandhi's protest at Freedom Park an anti-democratic act, comparing it to Indira Gandhi's Emergency, and labeled Congress's actions as 'dangerous' and 'anti-democratic'.
