A potentially dangerous situation was averted on Thane's busy Ghodbunder Road on Monday when a gas tanker caught fire, triggering concerns among commuters. The tanker, carrying 19 tonnes of non-flammable Argon gas, ignited while crossing the Patlipada bridge.
The driver promptly stopped the vehicle and left the scene safely. Emergency responders arrived quickly, managing to extinguish the blaze within 30 minutes. No injuries or casualties were reported, according to Yasin Tadvi of the Thane Municipal Corporation.
The incident caused significant traffic congestion on the vital Ghodbunder Road. Efforts are underway to clear the site and resume normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
