The judicial custody of Hisar-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, suspected of espionage, was extended by a week on Monday. The extension follows Malhotra's virtual appearance in a local court, with the proceedings presided over by Judicial Magistrate Sunil Kumar.
Arrested in May, the YouTuber is known for her channel "Travel with JO". Her custody continues after a chargesheet was filed on August 14, following a three-month police investigation. Malhotra's lawyer, Kumar Mukesh, stated the next hearing is set for August 25, where Malhotra must appear in person.
The charges relate to sections of the Official Secrets Act, amid claims of her connection with Pakistani intelligence. Despite no evidence of her access to sensitive military information, accusations allege she was in contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, recently expelled from India for espionage activities.
