SAIL's Steel Strengthens India's Naval Defences with INS Ajay and INS Nistar
SAIL has bolstered India's naval capabilities by providing essential-grade steel for INS Ajay and INS Nistar. INS Ajay is the final vessel in the ASW-SWC series, while INS Nistar is the first indigenously designed DSV. This effort supports India's defence indigenisation and reinforces SAIL's commitment to national security.

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has once again demonstrated its pivotal role in bolstering India's defence indigenisation by supplying critical-grade steel for two significant naval vessels, INS Ajay and INS Nistar.
INS Ajay, the last of the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) series, was constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) with steel supplied exclusively by SAIL. This steel ensures the vessel's structural integrity and stealth capabilities, marking a milestone in India's growing self-reliant naval fleet.
INS Nistar, designed and delivered by Hindustan Shipyard Ltd (HSL), also benefited from SAIL's specialty steel. As India's first indigenously built Diving Support Vessel (DSV), it is crucial for submarine rescue missions and deep-sea operations, highlighting SAIL's integral contribution to the country's maritime and defence strength.
