Tragedy in Granite Quarry: Odia Workers' Lives Lost

The granite quarry accident in Andhra Pradesh's Bapatla district claimed the lives of six Odia migrant workers, whose bodies were repatriated to their native villages in Ganjam and Gajapati districts. The collapse of a giant rock on Sunday led to this tragic event, which also left eight others injured.
The deceased workers, identified as Danda Badathya, Musa Jena, Banamali Behera, Santosh Gouda, Bhaskar Bisoi, and Tukuma Dalai, received tributes from ministers Bibhuti Bhusan Jena and Gokulananda Mallik. The Chief Minister announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the bereaved families.
The workers had traveled to Andhra Pradesh seeking work, with families now grappling with their untimely loss. The tragedy underscores the inherent risks faced by migrant laborers in challenging work environments, leading to a call for improved safety measures.
