Delhi, Maharashtra, and Chandigarh have emerged as leaders in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, according to Niti Aayog's debut India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI). This report evaluates states on EV adoption, charging infrastructure, and technological advancement.
The assessment, titled 'India Electric Mobility Index 2024', uses 16 indicators to determine state performance. Delhi and Maharashtra lead overall, with Haryana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh excelling in infrastructure readiness.
Niti Aayog member Rajiv Gauba highlighted the IEMI's role in providing a comparative framework, driving state cooperation for electric mobility goals. As EV sales rose to 7.7% in 2024, the report highlights increased infrastructure and policy development.
